The Gabbattoir
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 18 November 2025
Welcome to The Gabbattoir, a lovingly hand-crafted cricket-prediction game created by a small band of enthusiasts. By using this website ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms.
1. Who We Are
The Gabbattoir is operated by The Gabbattoir Team, an informal unincorporated group.
For all enquiries:
📧 [email protected]
2. Using the Service
You agree not to:
- hack, tamper with, or disrupt the Service;
- upload anything abusive or defamatory;
- copy, reverse-engineer, or otherwise disembowel our scoring system;
- run commercial services through the platform without permission.
We reserve the right to suspend access for misuse.
3. Who Can Play
Everyone is welcome.
If you're under 16, please ensure a parent or guardian knows you're here.
4. Predictions, Scoring & Prizes
The Gabbattoir is a game of skill, interpretation, judgment and weather forecasting.
We do our best to operate the game fairly, but:
- rules may evolve;
- scoring decisions are final;
- match data may sometimes lag or glitch;
- the site is not guaranteed to be online 24/7.
Prizes
From time to time depending on how generous we are feeling we may award physical trophies to winners.
- Free to enter
- No purchase necessary
- No cash value and no cash alternative
- Awarded entirely at our discretion
The Gabbattoir is not a gambling service, competition platform, or commercial prize draw.
5. Intellectual Property
Everything on the site (text, rules, commentary, branding, scoring and general weirdness) belongs to The Gabbattoir Team.
You may not copy or republish material without permission.
Your predictions stay yours, but by submitting them you allow us to use them to operate and improve the game.
6. Limits of Liability
We try very hard, but we can't promise:
- uninterrupted service;
- error-free operation;
- perfect match data;
- eternal preservation of your hard-earned points or trophies.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of data, missed points, leaderboard humiliation, or any indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing excludes liability we cannot legally exclude (e.g., fraud).
7. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales.
Disputes go to the courts of England & Wales.

This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
1. Who We Are
The data controller is:
The Gabbattoir Team

We are an unincorporated group running the site as a non-commercial, hobby project (though with occasional fantasies of one day being acquired by a billionaire cricket obsessive or Test match-focused media conglomerate).

We will never sell your personal data for commercial or marketing purposes.
No tricks, no fine print, no hidden clauses.
4. Legal Bases
Under UK GDPR we rely on:
- Contract – to operate the prediction game
- Legitimate interests – analytics, improvement, fraud prevention, and enabling a future owner to continue running the Service

We consider these interests balanced and reasonable and will always respect your rights.

If we learn we've collected data from a child without appropriate permission, we will delete it.
10. Business Transfers
If one day The Gabbattoir is sold, merged, absorbed by a national newspaper, or otherwise taken over, we may transfer your personal data to the new owner so they can continue operating the Service.
Any new owner must honour this Privacy Policy (or provide equivalent protection).
If legally required, we will notify users before any transfer.
This allows the Service to continue running seamlessly if The Gabbattoir changes hands.
